Creature of the Matrix

This happened in the early 1980s in Warren, Pennsylvania near the Allegheny National Forest. When I was a kid, I remember I would get up in the middle of the night and go play outside. I say "play" because it seems that was always my intention, but my memories abruptly stop after I get outside and only return when I am reentering the back door. I do recall a bit more regarding one incident.
I was crossing the street to get to my house when I felt compelled to look down the street where it bent in an L shape. At that point there was a large field between two houses. I froze… there, walking across the field was a glowing figure. It was humanoid in appearance... two arms and two legs... but with no discernable details... no eyes, no mouth. It moved with a bird-like gait. It turned its head and looked at me! I remember this incident with crystal clarity, as if it happened yesterday.
For a long time, the next thing I remembered was running across the yard to get to the back door. I then proceeded to pile things up in front of the door so it would not get in. My brother, Michael, remembers me telling him about the incident and he tells me that I would not sleep at night for a long time afterward. He also remembers that the old couple in the house on the corner of the L were found dead shortly thereafter. That lead to many people telling me that I had seen the death entity, and for a long time that is what I believed I had seen.
Currently, I have been meditating on the incident in order to recall more details about it. I was able to remember that I remained frozen in the middle of the street for quite a while… while the entity walked down the street to me. I have a very clear image of looking up into its face. It had no normal features… no eyes, no nose, no mouth but had a looming snake-like presence... its head swayed on a long neck.
I searched my whole life for an explanation for what I had seen that night… but it wasn't until I happened across a book by David Icke called Children of the Matrix that I even remotely found an explanation that made any sense. He describes what I had seen in this book.
