Unexplained Poltergeist

This incident took place around 20 years ago in Lincolnshire, England, where I live. A friend of mine, who lived some miles away, came to stay for the weekend with her kids. The eldest at the time was about five years old or so. This friend had joined a Christian church and talked about it constantly. At the time, I had a drawer full of Unexplained magazines in my upstairs bedroom, which my friend did not approve of.
Later in the day, I went upstairs to put something in the bedroom and found that I couldn't open the door. I pushed and pushed and eventually opened the door a few inches, bunching up the carpet as I did so. Then I found I could get no further as something was still in the way, so with a massive push I finally moved the object, which turned out the be the bedside three-drawer chest, which had somehow moved around 12 inches sideways and was blocking the door from the inside!
How could this happen? If anyone had gone in there to move the heavy chest, full of books, they could not have then got out again, unless they went from the upstairs window. My friend had not been upstairs and the kids were far too small and weak to have moved it. It remains a mystery to this day. Has anyone any ideas? My friend put it down the the Unexplained magazines in the drawers.
