Grandpa's Spirit
by Julie

This happened in Pennsylvania in 1993. My fiancee and I were living in an apartment in an old building in town. I would wake up in the middle of the night and hear what sounded like cocktail music. I would lift my head and try and see where it could be coming from, but never could figure it out. It sounded like music mixed with people's voices and the sound of glasses clinking. It never occurred to me that this place could be haunted at that time. I just wrote it off that my ears playing tricks on me.

Plus, while living there we had our first son. His toys would turn on by themselves, sometimes when I was standing right next to the toy box. We always said it was my husband's grandpa, but since moving out of there, the toys haven't turned on by themselves. If it was him, it would've continued.

There was a time, though, that we know for a fact that his grandpa was around. It was at my mother-in-law's house. (It's her father that I'm talking about.) Anyway, my youngest son was down there playing for the day, and when it came time to leave, he couldn't find the hat to his Woody doll anywhere. (Woody from the movie Toy Story). My mother-in-law and her husband looked EVERYWHERE for that hat. It was nowhere to be found. They shook out pillows and looked in dresser drawers... they looked everywhere.

A couple of weeks later, my step-dad-in-law got up to make a pot of coffee. While he was doing that, my mother-in-law lay there a little longer. When she sat up on the edge of the bed, she looked at the floor next to her dresser and right out in the open was the Woody hat. I just think it's nice to know that he's around and is doing good. He killed himself two years before his first great-grandchild (my son) was born and we always wished he could be here to see him. Now he is ten now! But we know he's here with us. Thank you for letting me share my story.
