Beware the 26th
by Pam

It was on my parents' anniversary that I started feeling that my grandmother was in trouble. I thought this was really strange due to the fact that my grandmother was somewhat of a recluse and I hadn't seen her in almost a year. I felt it was strange and tried to put it out of my mind.

The day before Easter, my parents showed up at my door and when they came in, my dad told me to sit down. When I did, dad told me that they had found my grandmother dead in her house the day before. They said that the death certificate was dated for the date I had been having those feelings. Needless to say, a cold chill ran through my body when they told me of the date the death certificate was signed for.

To make matters worse, I believe it was two years later, we got a call in early March. The call was to inform us that my uncle, who was in Florida at the time, had been hospitalized cirrhosis of the liver. When my mom told me, my first thought was that he was going to die on March 26th. The following year, my mom got a letter from two of my aunts within a few days of each other. The letters came from two different aunts and said basically the same things. Two more of my uncles were very ill and not expected to survive. I knew that both of them would die on March 26th. I was right. They both died on March 26th. The things I find especially strange are the fact that one of my grandfathers died on January 26th. I was born on May 26th. My parents were married on March 26th. At least three of my uncles died on March 26th, and a cold chill really ran through me when my boyfriend and I went to the cemetery and I saw that his mother died on March 26th. This is just too spooky for me.
