Eyes and Omens
by Cogito

Since I was a teenager, some nights right before sleep, eyes closed, I see an eye or several eyes. When this happens, I have a 100% chance of getting into trouble the next day. The more detailed the eye is, the bigger the trouble. If it is in color, it gets worse. If there are lots, it's even worse. If I see the shape of a face around the eyes, it's very bad. And if I see several faces, it's a catastrophe. That last scenario only happened once.

Just picturing all this makes me shiver. When I see an eye (usually one, and almost always in black and white) as I told you, something bad happens. You might think it's my anxiety projecting an image, my subconscious warning me about something. I have considered this also. But the trouble that's coming is sometimes impossible to predict. Like a car accident, for example. Or one of my relatives telling me that he/she is very ill. My reaction to this bad omen has always been stress and questioning. First it's "oh no!" Then "maybe it's not an eye, maybe it's something else." And finally "what's it gonna be this time? Should I stay in the house?"

Sometimes, I try to concentrate on the eye to make it go away, or to communicate with it to learn more. These attempts always fail miserably. And the next day -- boom! No Internet when I have to deliver an assignment (I am a writer/translator). Car won't start. I twist my ankle. That's the petty stuff. Because when I know that the omen is really bad, I sit and wait and hope that it won't come, and I lose a major client, I hear that someone has an illness, etc. Among a million other examples. I am, of course, absolutely sure that I am not the one causing the trouble that I will suffer from the next day. It's just an omen. But my question to you is: Have you ever heard of anything like this? To me, this is a curse.
