Sister's Doppelganger

I have only recently heard of the term "doppleganger," so I dont know for sure if it is correct, but let me tell you what happened. I am a 32-year-old female; at the time this happened I was around 10-12. My sister is three years younger than I. At the time, my mom and dad, myself and my two sisters lived at our house. My older sister is three years older than I, but she wasn't involved in the event.

One night, I had my best friend over to spend the night, and we were up late in my room playing, giggling and having fun like little girls do. It must have been around midnight when my younger "sister" came into my room. She stopped near the door and just stood there. She was wearing a man's undershirt (she often wore my dad's old ones) and her hair looked like it had just been styled, like with a curling iron by my mom. She just stood there for a moment and we told her to go back to her room, that she couldn't stay in there with us. We did have a tendency to be kind of mean to her sometimes. So, she turned and walked out.

We didn't notice at the time, but looking back, we didn't hear her footsteps on the carpet. Anyway, within a couple of minutes, we started to feel bad because we were mean to her, and she was young and maybe she was scared and maybe she wanted to be a part of our sleepover, so we decided to get her and let her sleep with us. She was a very independent child – she never really ever wanted to come in there with us – so we thought she must have been really scared. So, we went to her room, which was right next door to mine. I went over to her bed and pulled back the covers and said, "Okay, you can come sleep with us. We're sorry." She halfway looked at me and said, "I'm sleeping. I dont want to move." I told her that we decided she could come in there with us. That is when I noticed that she was wearing one of her nightgowns, which was blue, not the undershirt I had just seen her in, and her hair was normal – messy like when you have been in bed for a long time, and definitely not styled. And she sucked her fingers, and they were soaked, like she had been asleep for a long time.

I asked her if she had just came to my room, but she said no, she hadn't, that she had been asleep for a long time. She had no idea what we were talking about. We then went to my other sister's room and she didn't know either. My parents had no explanation; they said we must have been asleep. To this day, we still talk about it, and cannot explain it. The person we saw never spoke or made noise. We just assumed it was my sister. But looking back, the oddities just don't add up.
