Mimi's
Ghost
by Butterfly
My friend was over one day after school and we were both standing at my kitchen counter making some sanwiches to eat. (I should tell you that I live in a trailer park and my kitchen and living room are in the same area so you can see clearly from one room to another.) I was cleaning up some dishes in the sink when a feeling came over me, like someone was staring directly at me while I was turned washing the dishes. I turned to look at my friend, who was busy making her food, and realized that I was still being watched, even though my friend was looking down minding her own business.
I turned back to what I was doing and started to feel like someone was trying to tell me their name, but all I got was the letter M out of it. I came to the realization that this "someone" was female. I turned to my friend and told her I felt someone staring at me. She just looked up and said, "She's on the couch."
I never felt harmed, just a little scared as this was my first experience. I saw the spirit then – a female Indian in an old white dress. Since then I've told my biological mom about my incidents – trust me, there have been more – and have come to find that the spirit was my great-grandmother, who liked to be called Mimi (which explains the M I got). She used to wear a white dress before she died. It was her favorite.
Most of my biological family can see and sometimes communicate with the spirits that visit us. We all know about "Mimi" and I can tell you she only visits us to give us a warning that something bad is going to happen.
