The White Lady
by Bean

First off, I have video evidence to support my claim. Shortly after The Blair Witch Project came out, my mother and I came across an old legend of a spirit called "The White Lady." Reportedly, she haunts an area where an old mining office stood in Spring Glen, located just a few miles outside a small town named Helper, located in Carbon County, Utah. (If you plan to look for the mine, you may want to try the name Latuda, as it is also known by that name.) My mother and I decided to buy some equipment and go out hunting for this White Lady.

According to archived mine documents, there was a woman, whose name escapes me now, who committed suicide after her husband and son died in a mining accident, not uncommon. After talking to locals though, there are many different stories. One says that she killed her son and daughter after her husband died and put their remains in soap, which she used to wash her clothes in the creek. From now on, she must walk the earth looking for her children's remains. Many claim to have seen her or felt her presence, but my mother and I wanted to find out for ourselves as most of our resources were drunk at the time they saw her.

After dark, my mother and I loaded the equipment into a station wagon and set off for Spring Glen. About a mile from the nearest house, my mother and I passed the bridge leading to the old office. As soon as we passed the bridge, our car's outside temperature dropped 5 degrees and it suddenly became dark. There was no mist that night, but visibility dropped to about 10 feet – with the headlights on! I, at the time, was a non-believer and thought nothing of it, but found it was a pleasant outing.

My mother and I found a place to pull over, almost on top of the old office. We had radios, a special night vision camera lens, and a supersonic hearing device. I took a radio and the camera and left my mother at the car while I took off down a road that led to the old mine. While walking with the camera on, you can hear me talking to myself. I turned a bend and you can hear me say, "Damn, it's cold" and the radio begins to static. At that point, I am aiming the camera down the road. There is something about night vision you must understand: where there is heat, you see green. Where there is no heat you see black. So the view through the camera was mostly black because of the cold air.

From out of nowhere, a bright green splotch appears in the middle of the camera view. Puzzled, I lowered the camera and raised my flashlight; there was nothing I could see. I raised the camera to my eye again and the green splotch was there, but closer. Just to be sure, I lowered and raised the camera again, three times, every time, the splotch was getting closer, but there was nothing I could see with my flashlight and naked eye. I felt my blood go cold. Cold like when you have just done something awful and you got caught. Cold like when you have never been so scared in your entire life.

A voice told me to run, and I did. Without turning off the camera, I ran back to the car as fast as I could. When I got back to the car, I told my mom to floor it. Once we were out and "safe," I showed the replay to my mother. She thought it was weird because at about the time I would have seen this apparition, according to the time printed on the video, she heard a woman's voice over the listening device muttering something. She could only make out one word: run.

Later the next day, I went back with my sister. I have a UHF receiver (I think that's what its called) that picks up signals from the frequency police officers use to send information. After crossing the bridge that leads to the mine sight, the UHF indicator went crazy, but there was nothing out there to set it off. Also, it was noticeably colder once we crossed the bridge. I checked the temperature from my car and it had indeed dropped five degrees again. I go back there sometimes during the day only and strange things still happen. So, if you ever find yourself in Helper, Utah, stop by Spring Glen and find out for yourself.
