Streetlight Ghost
by Curtis E. Hall
On the night of Sept.13, 2008 in the small town of Hoosick Falls, N.Y. at approximately 1:30 a.m., my girlfriend and I were leaving a family member's aptartment to go home. As we left the apartment and stepped out to the street, we both noticed this young girl standing in the middle of the road about 12 feet away. She was approximately 8-10 years of age. The young girl was dressed in 1800-style clothing (long dark dress with white apron, old Mary Jane type shoes). She was bent over at first, then she stood up and looked at us. I say looked at us, but we couldn't see a face, only a silhouette of her head. She also held onto her left arm like she was cold or hurt. Her skin was very white in color.
At this point, I felt ill all over, and there was an ungodly silence. The young girl started to walk very slowly toward us and there was no sound from her footsteps, just silence, and my girlfriend started to panic and yell for me to come on. I stood for a couple of seconds longer, just trying to figure this thing or girl out, but my fear overtook me and I took off with my girlfriend.
We turned around the corner off of Beckett St. (where we encountered her), and turned to see if she was still following. Suddenly, out of nowhere, the street light blew and she stepped into the darkness. Then slowly again she turned toward us and started walking. At this point, we were extremely frightened, my girlfriend burst into tears, and we took off and didn't look back.
