Skinwalkers on the Roof
by KJM
I am Native American and my story happened on a reservation in Arizona at my grandmother's house, which is situated out in the country, about 35 miles from our home. The nearest home is about 10 miles away. On a certain night, my family decided to spend the night at her home. She didn't have electricity or running water, so we did our "business" before the sun went down.
We were going to sleep when the dogs started barking furiously. They ran this way and that way, chasing "something". Nobody got up to check because it was pitch black outside. My grandmother's house was covered with chicken wire because she was going to get stucco applied to her home. The dogs barked about 5-10 minutes, then whatever it was jumped on the side of my grandmother's house. It was the most terrifying experience I have ever been through. I was frozen along with everyone else.
I remember someone saying, "What is that?" There seemed to be about 3-4 beings crawling around the side of the home, and then they jumped on top of the roof and could be heard walking around. The dogs were still barking like crazy. I remember I lay there motionless under the blankets. That was a long, long night, but morning came and everyone went outside to see what had happened. I thought my grandmother's chicken wire would be in shambles, but it was all intact. Pretty weird.
Then someone grabbed a ladder and up we went. What I saw gave my goosebumps -- and it still does. Along the edge of the roof were little white hand prints, like a young child's. My grandmother's roof was green in color and the hand prints were white, like white paint. There were several of them, all by the edge. The hand prints had five fingers. That was real; all of us saw it. What could have made that?
Native Americans believe in skinwalker stories, but I believe it was a being not from this earth. My sister recently told me that more and more people were seeing "skinwalkers" and that they could "fly". I believe them.
