Reincarnated
As Twins

My two daughters, now age 16, are mirror image identical twins - they look alike, but one's right-handed and the other is left-handed. Before they arrived, there was no previous history of twins in our family. Interestingly, they were also born under the sign of Gemini. At the age of 4, they would often chatter endlessly to each other or anyone within hearing range. Because they were a novelty in the family, I would find myself occasionally observing the differences in their behavior or paying more attention to their "conversations" than I did their singleton siblings at the same age.
One day as I sat folding laundry and one of the twins chattered nearby, I happened to tune in to what she was actually trying to say and I was amazed to hear the following story from my four-year old child:
"She's not really my sister. She was my little boy and I was the mother before we died in the car accident. There was a policeman and he had his lights on then he ran us off the road and we went over the side and our car was on fire. Then we died. Now we're here."
It was the first time I had ever heard one of them acknowledge the twin relationship and certainly her explanation left me dumbfounded, to say the least.
