The Haunted Apartment
by Cher
I lived with a real ghost experience. It was not a positive experience and
haunts me to this day. I was a student at university and rented an apartment
with a roommate, and shortly after moving in, strange
things started happening. Over the year, its hauntings, particularly of
me, increased to the point I feared for my life. I'm female, my roommate
was a male. Strange occurrences began: little stones being thrown at
objects near me (such as my computer screen) as I was typing an essay. I would hear the voice of my roommate calling for me in
his voice, and yet my roommate would say that it was not him. Sometimes
this would happen even when we were sitting near each other, and
after a while, even when I was looking at him and did not see his lips
moving, then when he was not even in the apartment. Clothing, photographs
and personal belongings went missing (I "lost" half my
clothing wardrobe this year); a few items the landlord found in the dumpster and
found it amusing that we would throw out things such as pictures (well, we hadn't). One day pennies were tossed at me and hit me on my arm and back. Incidents escalated when my roommate and I
were in arguments and when he was at class or at work. It would knock on the bedroom door when I was working at the computer
or reading. We had a small storage room and it began scraping at the
floor, digging a hole in the concrete; pieces of concrete were scattered all
over the room, even good size chunks. Kitchen cupboard hinges began unscrewing
and loosening. Near the end of the lease, I had some library books I was going
to return. I went back into the apartment to collect them and found one of them,
a soft-covered pamphlet, ripped up with the words, "I will be with you - always" laying pieced together in front of me on top of the pile. Another really
scary event happened when I went to
sit on my bed, propping myself up with my pillow against the wall, and suddenly I
felt squirming/nudging on my back. I screamed for my roommate to come
in and we found a toy dino inside my pillowcase (which I kept on a shelf
across the room) which the spirit must have been moving around. That time, I
could have sworn I heard a laugh. For some odd reason, I always felt as though
the spirit must have been a boy child, but I could have been wrong. All I know
is that to this day, I am still freaked out by the thought of this experience. By the end
of the term, I was spending every weekend traveling home to my parents (rather
odd for a university student!) and dreaded returning to that room.
Metal Detecting
Voices by A
Several years ago, my husband and I purchased metal detectors and started what
is now an addictive hobby. Most all the places we go to are places that stink
with history, even my back yard. Sometimes, when I am searching for relics, I
will be in an area all alone, then I hear them. What I thought to be my
husband standing behind me talking turned out to be no one. After a few seconds,
I would place my headphones back on my head and continue to search. This
happened many times and each time it happened my metal detector would give me a
signal and I would dig. Most every time this happened, I would find a nice item
for our collection. At first it scared me to hear the voices, but now I am used
to them. I only hear them when I am concentrating on my detector. It sounds like
several men in a conversation, but I can't make out what they are saying. I also
get strange urges to go in certain directions while detecting, and when I do it
always turns out to be to my advantage. I looked out my hall window one day
towards the field that my husband was in metal detecting. As I passed I saw a
dark figure standing beside him then he began to dig. I continued what I was
doing in the house. Later he came in and I asked him what he found and he told
me a flat button and handed it to me. He wanted to know how I knew he found it
and I told him I saw someone standing there with him waiting while he was
digging the button up.
Poltergeists?
by Adman
We have been having
some weird things going on at our house. I haven't really seen anything, but my
roommates have, but we all have had experiences such as follows.
-
One room is always cold 24 hours a day, even in summer
-
Things
disappear from where we put them, cannot be found when we are looking for
them, then reappear where we were looking. This happens at least once or
twice a day.
-
Footsteps
are heard on the roof (we called 911 thinking someone was on the roof and in
our locked tool shed). This has happened twice.
-
Our
cat runs from rooms as if it were frightened.
-
At
home alone, we all feel a presence other than ours.
-
My
roommate reported seeing shadows walking by his room once.
-
A
visitor to the house said that he saw two figures in the yard.
-
Footsteps
in the attic and thumps like objects falling for no apparent reason.
I
am not saying we have strange ghosts or poltergeists or anything like that. I am
simply saying that there is some really unusual stuff going on here.
The Haunted
Floorboards by Margaret
My name is Margaret.
We moved to this house when I was 8 years old. It was an old
farm house, and to this day I don't know the history of it. Until my teenage
years, I don't really remember anything happening except the doors would creak
open a little and my mom would say, "Come on in, George." And we would all
laugh. Well, the first incident was after the school bus dropped me off and I
ran up the driveway because I was in dire need to use the bathroom. We had two
bathrooms. A full bathroom upstairs and a closet bathroom off the kitchen, which
just had a few shelves and a toilet. Because that was the nearest one, I used
that one. If you look directly up, you can see the floorboards to the upstairs
hallway. I heard what
I thought was my brother upstairs walking around. Well, I hollered a few times
assuming he didn't here me, which seems odd because the walls and ceiling were
poorly insulated. After I was finished, I headed upstairs once again hollering
for my brother. I checked all the rooms,
then I
freaked out a little. No one was home but me. Now
this next one is a bit more scary. It was at night, everyone was sleeping. My
room was a space that was part of the hallway. I was laying there sleeping and
then woke up to what I thought was my dad up and getting ready for work, heading
for the shower. I heard the floor boards creaking in their familiar way and I
heard the squeaking of the knobs for the tub and the water running. Then I heard
someone coming back down the hallway and then stop and walk back to the tub,
turn off the water and walk back down the hallway. And then the footsteps
stopped. I felt tremendous pressure on my chest and throat. I desperately tried
to remove invisible hands and tried to scream. After I realized I couldn't, I
screamed to God with my mind. All of a sudden, I heard a male voice calmly shout
my name, "Margaret." It was over. I sat up making sure I was not just
dreaming the whole thing. The next morning I asked both my father and brother if
they had heard me having a bad dream and
called out to me. They both said no.
Mom Returns
by Marie
When my present
husband and I were first married, we had returned from our honeymoon and were in
bed for the night. In the bathroom
adjoining the
bedroom, I had put a blue night light. While
we laid there, something crossed in front of the light causing us not to see it
for a second or two. My husband
said he thought it was his
mother visiting us because she couldn't come to our wedding; so he asked out
loud, "Mother, if that is you, cross in front of the light again, and sure
enough the same thing happened. The next
day, his sister called from Florida to tell him their mother had died the day
before, so of course it was her spirit that was present with us that night.
Past Life in
the Castle by Billy
I live in the UK. Last week, my grandson (aged 6) visited an ancient castle called
Bamburgh in Northumbria where we live. This castle has a very bloody history
over the last 1,000 years. Whilst inside this castle, which is still lived in,
my grandson seemed to know his way around. When we were confronted by a locked
steel gate he said, "That's the way to the dungeon." I said, "No, it's
not. The sign says that
way." He said, "No, it's down this passageway. I remember." I said, "How could
you remember? You have never been here before." He said, "It was before I
was born. I was here. Down there." I asked a member of staff what was down behind
this gate. She said, "That was the original entrance to the dungeon, but it's
been closed over 200 years. You
have to go around the other way." My grandson also pointed other things out
which could only have come from prior knowledge of the castle's layout.
The Luminous
Hand by
Elizabeth
I was raised
by an extremely abusive mother, physically, mentally, and emotionally. I could count on the physical every day at least once.
The other two were continuous. I was fourteen at the time of this
particular incident (there have been many). She had had a tea party for some of the ladies in the neighborhood.
After the party they went shopping. As
she left, my mother told me to clean up in a tone that left no doubt that I had
better not mess up. She had used her best china. I carefully washed and dried each piece and lined them up on the
countertop so that I could put them away. I
had to climb onto the counter to put the china on the very top shelves of the
cabinet. Toward the end, I must have
gotten in a hurry, and I dropped a cup. Sheer
terror washed over me. I literally saw
myself being beaten to death. When my
vision cleared, the cup was even with my eyes. There
was a luminous hand, wrist to finger tip only, holding the cup.
Shaking, I went to reach for the cup. I
remember it dropping into my hands and the floating hand disappearing.
I put the cup away, climbed down from the counter and stood there shaking
for an eternity. I calmed my self
down by telling myself that it had been my guardian angel watching over me.
Disembodied
Voices by Lessa
When I was
about 7 years old, we had just moved into a new house. One day I was sitting in
the living room on the carpet by the front door. On the opposite side of the
wall sat a stove and my mom was standing there either cleaning the stove or
cooking. I suddenly heard a woman's voice call out my name. I peeked around
the wall to look up at my mom and say, "Did you call me?" My mom shook her
head and said, "No dear." A few minutes later, the same thing happened and
again I turned and looked around the wall at my mom who again said, "No
dear." This really confused me because I had distinctly heard a woman's
voice calling my name. I kind of waited peeking over at my mom who had continued
doing whatever she was doing and wasn't paying attention to me. As I watched
her I heard the voice again but my mother's lips HAD NOT MOVED! Then suddenly,
as if it knew I was paying attention, the voice started talking. The voice was
soft and muffled and
I couldn't hear anything more than that a woman was asking me to do something.
I don't know why I wasn't scared, but I wasn't. I just listened and
suddenly she shouted my name and I jumped, but she only continued to mumble. As
the female voice talked, another voice appeared - a man's. He was also
calling my name and saying something, but like the woman, I couldn't
understand a word of it. Then a third voice, another man, piped in and began to
talk as well until they were all talking at once at me. I just sat there staring
up at a spot over my head and knowing that's where the voices were coming from
even though I couldn't see anything. Then as if I were daydreaming, I saw
something like a thought cloud form over my head and in it was a bright white
scene of a sky with lots of white billowy clouds. In the front of the scene were
three figures: a blonde woman and two dark-haired young men all looking down at
me and dressed in white. Their lips were moving and talking at me. As quickly as
I saw the image, all their voices seemed to merge and crescendo and then
suddenly they were cut off and the image in my mind of them was gone!
Saved from
the Rip Tide by
Monica
This may be a
common story, but it really confirms my belief in an afterlife. In
August of 1987, while vacationing in Cape Hetaeras, N.C. I got accidentally
caught in a rip tide, which I found out later was common down there, especially
during hurricane season. I first
struggled and panicked, but then a peace came over me.
I really started to feel my soul starting to leave my body and I saw the
infamous white light. Then appeared an angel, a woman, my guardian angel, I
believe, who told me in a gentle voice that I could make it to shore and try.
It really wasn't my time.
Then I remembered what I had read when read on a poster where I was
staying about surviving rip tides and started to swim, float, and then blacked
out. The next thing I remember was
crawling towards some steps I saw where I was confronted with a group of women.
I did not immediately remember what happened at that time, but then went
back to where my beach chairs were on the sand. It
was there I remembered what happened.
Psychic
Experience by Onix
P.
About 20 years ago, while I was residing at a boarding school, I had strange
things happen to me. Each
member of the graduating class had to present the results of
six months worth of research in any area of interest.
A very close friend decided to do his research on telekinesis, with the
intention of tapping into the unconscious mind by using hypnosis on the selected
subjects. The selection was based on suggestibility.
I became one of the subjects. His
hypothesis proved false as none of the subjects were able to move the intended
object. A few weeks later, one of the classmates was reported lost, which was of
great concern because no one had any clue of his location. Upon learning of the
disappearance, my friend hypnotized me and while in trance, I somehow was able
to visualize the place (a nearby ditch) and the peer as he was laying there.
We asked the searching team to look in that area, and to our amazement he
was found safe.
Ghost of the
Indian Chief by
Ziporah P.
When I was
about 15 years old, I had a Native American friend.
We had known each other for a few years, and he was moving away.
As a parting gift, he gave me an arrowhead that he had crafted himself.
My mother had always told me that the house we lived in was built atop an
ancient Native American burial ground. A
few days after I had begun to wear the arrowhead necklace, I was headed up from
the basement in our house, and as I flipped the light switch, the bulb blew out.
Normal experience at first, right? As
I headed up the stairs in complete darkness, I saw a light coming from what
seemed to be the baseboard of the stairwell. As I neared the top of the
stairwell, I saw a figure appear. What seemed to me to be an Indian Chief. I froze, not out of fright (although that may be the cause), but I
just lacked the ability to move another step, even though I tried to.
As I was standing there frozen in my tracks, I felt the necklace lift
from it's place on my neck and watched in awe as he lifted something from
around his own neck and touched it to mine. All
that I remember is a blue spark, no words, nothing special, just that blue
spark. I bolted from the staircase and
ran straight for my room.
An Angel
Lends Comfort
by C Burke
In 1979 my husband was killed in a motorcycle accident.
He and I were traveling in separate vehicles.
In an attempt to pass me, (he was drunk) he hit a light pole and died
within 20 minutes. I
was driving a truck. It was approximately 1 a.m. and the street was
deserted except for us. I left the truck
in the center of the road and ran back toward the burning motorcycle.
I was standing there and a man's voice told me that my husband was not
under the bike, but across the street by the light pole.
He then guided me over there and asked if he could move my truck out of
the road so that the ambulance and fire truck could get to him.
After moving the truck, he came
back and placed his hand on my shoulder. He
told me he would stay until someone else came. When
the police arrived, I turned to thank him for staying, and the police asked what
I was talking about. They hadn't seen
anyone and neither had two people who witnessed the aftermath of the accident. I
even remember the man's voice. I still
believe that if no one else saw him, then he must have been a guardian of some
sort.
Meeting My
Angel by Reikinc
In 1992 I was alone, confused, being stalked, and was terrified all the time. I
worked during the day and faced the fear nightly. I had never felt so alone and
vulnerable in my life. One night I was reading a book about meeting your angels.
Drifting off to sleep, I asked, "If you are out there and are of good, please
share your name with me." I was almost asleep when I saw in my mind a giant
blackboard. Then single letters started appearing, being printed in chalk. When
finished, I thought "Wow! That's an unusual name." Suddenly, a voice
firmly stated inside my head, "Write it down." I calmly thought, "No, I
will remember it," and kept drifting off to sleep. Then, the voice said more
firmly, "No, write it down NOW. I know you, and you will forget." Well, I
got angry and flung the covers aside, saying aloud, "Alright! I'll do it!"
I turned to my journal in the dark and scrawled the name. Immediately I went to
sleep. And I forgot. Three days later I was at work and suddenly remembered the
experience. I grabbed the dictionary and looked for the name. And found it.
Then, once I arrived home, I looked in the Bible. And found it: Enoch. According
to the Bible, one of the most pure humans to ever live. I was totally shocked
and amazed. Since that time I have had many experiences with Enoch, and a few
times I have asked that he make himself known to me physically. I then feel a
complete warmth on my right side and even the wisp of a feather (?) on my cheek.
The angels are there for us. They are there and all we have to do is ask for
them to come.
Camping
Terror by Matt
A.
In the winter of '94, a friend of mine suggested that we go camping. We chose Mt. Graham, which is maybe 10,000 ft in elevation.
We drove up the mountain as far as we could.
I parked my pickup truck there and we hiked in about two miles through
the foot-and-a-half deep snow. At one point a ranger passed us in a truck with
chains, on his way to the very top, where the ranger station was.
He explained that he was the only one around and the gate was locked
except when he came through. We hiked on and eventually picked a place to leave
the road and walk up through the woods. We went about 150 or 200 yards where we found a stream and decided
to set up camp. We made a fire, ate,
pitched the big cabin tent. It snowed a bit, and we went to sleep. In the middle of the night, my buddy woke
me in a quiet panic. There were bright
lights shining on the side of the tent - more even than a re-sparked campfire,
and bright as headlights. This worried us
because we were nowhere near the road anymore, and big trees would have
prevented a vehicle from getting anywhere near us. Our lantern was outside the tent, and we had no flashlight inside.
Neither of us could muster the courage to look outside the tent to see
what was causing the light. We listened
and could hear a muffled, jumbled whispering of some kind, but nothing we could
make out. Needless to say, this terrified
us! He managed to yell out, "Hey!"
but there was no response. We had a .22
caliber rifle, and we pointed the end out of the tent, and fired into the ground
outside the tent. Still, the light shone and no one spoke.
We had both seen the movie Fire in the Sky, so we were terrified.
I remember falling back to sleep somehow, and being awaken later by a
scratching noise at the bottom/side of the tent.
Somehow I managed to fall asleep again, and at the crack of dawn I went
out and started the fire. We ate, packed,
and left. There were no footprints or
animal tracks to be found and the food outside the tent was not disturbed.
My buddy doesn't talk about it anymore.
Frogs from
the Sky by KimBradH
I recall living in Grass Lake, Michigan and my neighbors exclaimed it had rained
hundreds of frogs from the sky after one mild rain storm.
They are upstanding citizens of the village and had no reason to make it
up. I also have had the experience as a child to witness seeing a giant ant. One
summer we were inundated with ants everywhere. There
were fields (acres) of ant holes and ant hills across the road from my parents
house in Grass Lake, Mich. One summer
walking home from picking pears I had a giant ant (8 to 10 inches long) chase me
down the road. No, I did not dream this, my sister and mother still remember my
hysterics. Strange huh?
Telepathic
Kid by L050187
I'm a 12-year-old kid. I think I might have had a telepathic experience. I was
on this website reading some of the articles and I read about concentrating and
practicing on how to develop telepathy. So I closed my eyes and thought of this
girl I like to talk to and in thought: "I wonder where you are," and said
her name in my mind. At that moment, she sent me an Instant Message. It was
probably a coincidence or something. I also have people at school that when I am
talking to them I know what they are going to say before they say it.
Sinister
Ouija by Charlie7
I have an aunt that was receiving commission from her neighbors as extra income.
She was a regular person except her use of the board. Well, most of the
experiences were without incident - just contacting of souls that had passed
away, as we know it. Yet a neighbor and close friend was given a horrible
outlook that she would die a horrible death. It was of a spirit that my aunt had
never encountered, and this women was found the following morning. She had been
beaten to death in her home by her husband. The catch is that they were in a
good marriage with no previous abuse. The husband couldn't explain why - he
only said he was awoken by a voice and that was all he knew. If that wasn't
bad enough, a friend of the family was told she had cancer that had not been
diagnosed, where it was, and how long she would survive to the month. This
prediction came true. My aunt threw out the board and will not ever consider it
again.
