The
Hammering Ghost
When I was in the
fifth grade, my best friend died from hanging. Nobody knows if it was on purpose or an
accident. My sister, who is four years younger than I, found him hanging. He was too high
for either of us to do anything. There was a picnic table that was flipped over that lay
beneath him. Ever since that time, my family has heard footsteps walking from one side of
the house to the other... even when there may have been only one person at home at the
time. The most bizarre experience I had was about one year later when my sister and I were
home alone... and we heard pounding on the walls. I went upstairs to find out what it
could be. I went to the spare bedroom and found a hammer laying in the middle of the
floor. My parents said that nobody had been in that room in almost a month. This happened
in 1981. To this day my parents still hear the footsteps. - G. O'Connor
Ghostly Bed Check
I have always
been perceptive to things. My friend Amber had just moved into a house, and had picked the
room of a woman (Lindsey's mother) who had died in a car crash a few months earlier. Once
my friend moved in, she experienced weird things, so she asked me to come over and check
it out. We were meditating, and all of a sudden the air turned extremely hot. It was
winter and the heat was on low. But the room was so hot we could barely breathe. I had
this horrible feeling, and it was like my hand was drawn up to the bed. I waved it slowly
through the air, and I reached a cold spot. It was incredibly hot, and then cold for about
a foot, and became hot again. Then a figurine fell off of a shelf near the bed. Needless
to say, I truly believed that it was Lindsay's mother, coming back to see what was going
on in the room. - almajac
| My father died three days later in the hospital. About a week after, I kept hearing noises such as those of a wheelchair being pushed around in his bedroom. |
Dad is Still Around
This incident
took place when I was 18. My father was slowly dying of a painful cancer. Since he was
unable to walk, he often had to move around by wheelchair. One morning he was to be taken
to the hospital. Not wanting to be seen on a stretcher, he arranged so that he could go
down the stairs from his bedroom by bumping himself down on his behind. I will never
forget the sight of him doing this before the medics carried him out the door to the
ambulance. My father died three days later in the hospital. About a week after, I kept
hearing noises such as those of a wheelchair being pushed around in his bedroom. Often I
heard bumping sounds as if one was being bumped down the stairs. Being confused and upset
- and I admit scared - I talked to my brother about it, and he heard strange noises,
too. My sister, who was 11 at the time, was so upset she went to live with her friend for
a month. I started to have dreams of my father standing in my room wearing a sweatshirt
with gray and had blue lettering saying, "University of Ottawa." I had never
seen my father wearing this shirt before. I asked my mother and she said he was given the
shirt by a friend in the hospital. I had never seen the shirt before nor had I seen my
father in the hospital before he died. I had no way of knowing that this shirt existed. To
this day, I cannot explain why I saw my father's apparition wearing this particular
sweatshirt. Six months later, when my brother was away at school, he told me he too had a
similar dream of my father wearing the identical sweatshirt. I try not to believe in the
paranormal, but this experience has haunted me for the last 25 years. - C. Tennant
St. Martin Demands His Due
This experience
did not happen to me, but to my mom and grandmother. When my mother was young, her family
was poor and they lived off the Social Security check that came every Friday. Well, they
were in desperate need of money, and my grandma prayed to St. Martin that if he had the
Social Security check come on Wednesday instead of Friday that she would buy him a new
candle. The check came on Wednesday. My grandma forgot to buy him a new candle, and a
month later my mother heard my grandma yell out . She went running to my grandma's bedroom
and saw that a small fire had started on the curtain. The fire wasn't spreading, just
touching the curtain. My grandmother remembered the candle and sent my uncle to go buy
one. When he came back, the fire was still in the exact same place. As soon as my
grandmother lit the candle, the fire died. - L.F.

Dad Comes Back for a Chat
I have had
several strange things happen to me and those I love. I was in a car accident in December,
1985. I was not hurt seriously and due to a backlog in our local emergency room, I did not
have X-rays taken on the day of the accident, but made a promise to my doctor that I would
return the following day to have some tests done. That night I had an eerie experience. My
father had passed away the previous January, but he visited me that night. He stood at the
end of my bed, dressed in his work clothes and work boots. He asked me to come downstairs
so we could talk and not disturb my husband. Whether I was dreaming or not I don't know,
but I went. We hugged, and he told me to forego the X-rays the following day because I was
pregnant, and that he was so happy that I would be giving him his first grandson. He told
me to make sure that I told "Kitten" that he loved her. I wasn't sure what he
meant, but I agreed. Our conversation finally ended when my husband came to the top of the
stairs and asked me who I was talking to... and my father disappeared. I told my mother
about this experience the next day, and she broke into tears. She admitted that my father
called her Kitten when they made love (something that I could not have known). Anyway, I
went to the hospital for X-rays and they asked if I was pregnant. I said I had not missed
a menstrual cycle but - as you guessed - I was pregnant and had a baby boy nine months
and two weeks later. I was only three days pregnant at the time of the accident, according
to my doctor. - L. Young
Aunt Fran Knows Something
A couple months
ago, my Aunt Fran from across the street had to go into the hospital for a minor surgery.
She was expected to come home a few days after the operation. Instead, she had got really
sick. She was in the hospital for a month or so and was put on a respirator. My uncle, her
husband, made the decision of taking her off. We were really close to her. The day after
the funeral, my uncle was off to Florida to be with his friends. He was there for three
months, then came back. Usually he would be over here telling us about his trip and how
much fun he had. Not this time. During his trip, he must have met a girlfriend. We are all
mad about this, and I bet Aunt Fran is, too. Ever since my uncle and his girlfriend have
came back, strange things have been happening. My mom was in the living room when she saw
my uncle and the girlfriend pulling up. She commented on them and something strange
happened: One of my nephew's toys (he had been born a few weeks before Aunt Fran died)
-
this ball that played music - began playing by itself. No one was near it to make it do
that. It was like aunt Fran was trying to tell us that what my mom said was right and she
was mad at my uncle. Later, another signal occurred. While my sister was looking over at
my uncle's house to see if he was there, another one of my nephew's toys started playing.
Again, no one was near it to turn it on. We hope to find out what Aunt Fran was trying to
tell us. - jenaus ![]()
