I had a very odd experience in Myrtle Beach S.C. in September 2003. My wife and I went there for a week on vacation. (Now before I continue, keep in mind that I grew up in a military family. I have seen many types of military craft, some possibly not even seen by the civilian public.) We had been out all day and went to a late dinner, so we decided to hang it up and for the evening and go back to the hotel.
Around 12:30 a.m., my wife was asleep and I was up watching television. Our balcony door was open, so I could still hear the calm ocean and dozens of vacationers lounging on the beach below. Out of the corner of my eye, I spotted a large, bright, red object as large as the full moon hovering way out over the ocean, just above the horizon. At first I ignored it because I thought it was the reflection of the red exit sign above our front door. But when I turned my head, there it was! Something was actually floating out there! Something big!
I got up and went to the balcony, where I watched it for at least one minute. I woke my wife, who didn't have her contacts in, to tell her to look at this stunning thing I was seeing. She ran into the bathroom to put her contacts in. I kept watching the object, which started pulsating, casting a red glow over the ocean. Thinking I was the lone witness, I looked down at the beach and saw that everyone was watching it!
As soon as it appeared, it was gone. My wife ran out, but she had missed it. We sat there, along with all the other beach-goers and wished it would appear again, and not five minutes later, it did! But this time it was at the opposite end of the horizon, far from where it had been just a moment before! Again, I, my wife and many beach-goers watched the spectacle in awe! Pictures were flashing, people were videotaping it.
Then, out of nowhere, two military fighter jets flew over and made a beeline straight toward the object, which suddenly busrt straight up into the sky and flashed out! Needless to say everyone was stunned!
The next day, it was all everyone was talking about and, strangely enough, the fighter jets remained flying around the area the entire day. Now, I consider myself a pretty level-headed person, and I'm not saying that I saw some outer space, "alien-driven" object. But I definitely know that what I and many others saw that night was unlike anything I have ever seen before. Apparently, the military hadn't either.
