I am sending you this report of a UFO I saw as a 15-year-old kid at the time living in Kingston Upon Hull, UK. It all began in about 1981 with me and a whole group of kids all playing football in the street. Nothing unusual about that. All of a sudden we heard a sound that sounded very much like a helicopter flying at very low altitude. We all looked up and saw nothing, and this lasted for only a few seconds then it stopped just as suddenly as it had started. We where all puzzled by this noise and it started again, but sounding much lower and again it started for only a few seconds and stopped abruptly again. Then after that we heard no more noises like that, so we all carried on playing football, all thinking it was a helicopter that was out of our sight, so we thought nothing of it.
It was only when I went to retrieve the football from the other end of the road, a very bright star like point caught my eye. I also remember thinking to myself, I'll get my telescope on that later when it rises, thinking it was the planet Jupiter. But after a few seconds I realized it wasn't Jupiter as it was in the wrong place, and it was also swaying to and fro. I looked at it thinking it was some kind of airplane, and thought nothing of it and kicked the ball back to my friends.
Well, as soon as I took my eyes off the distant object, it caught my eye again as it was swaying to and fro faster then anything I had ever seen, and called out to my friends in the street to come and take a look at it. They all said it was a helicopter with an extremely bright light on it and ignored it. A few minutes later this object came hurtling from the great distance I saw it at. (I was looking at it all the time, so I knew it was the same object.) It never made any sound at all, I hasten to add.
This object resolved from a very star-like point to a classic saucer-shaped craft, which is something we had never seen before. But the weirdest thing about it was that at that precise moment EVERY kid on the street turned around and looked at it at precisely the same time, as though this object wanted us all to look at it.
This strange saucer-shaped craft was a grayish-silver colour, with windows all around the dome of it, and they were yellow. We all looked at it dumbstruck! None of us could move. (Whether it was through fear I do not know.) Then after about 10 seconds of us seeing it, it shone the brightest light I had ever seen. It looked like a constant discharge from a xenon light. It was so bright it cast shadows of the parked cars in the street! At that point we all took to our heels and ran into our own houses petrified.
I remember telling my parents there was a HUGE UFO outside hovering, and after my little brother came rushing into the house and saying exactly the same thing. My dad got his camera to take a photo of it. Well whilst he was busy looking the UFO and taking off the lens cap, the UFO slowly and silently drifted off toward the other end of the housing estate and we all lost sight of it.
The next day I was at school thinking to myself, Who do I tell about this? And will they ever believe me? I know what I saw! I overheard a conversation in my physics classroom amongst some other boys, whom I did not know, mention the same thing! The UFO had drifted off toward a playing field where they were playing. And according to one of them, they all just turned around at the same time and saw what we saw earlier on that night! This one boy was a staunch disbeliever in stuff like that and was busy goading them until I stepped in and mentioned I had seen the very same thing. This boy said to me and to all the kids that saw it to go to opposite ends of the classroom, out of sight of each other, and draw what we supposedly saw. We all drew what we saw, and EVERY picture had matched up in great detail. This boy went a bit pale and said that he had no other option to believe us all.
Now I am 43 years of age and I still remember that day as only it was yesterday, it seems to have left an indelible memory on my mind and those who saw it.
