By Stephen Wagner, About.com

Crystal ball

Gaze into the future and predict 2006's events.

DO YOU HAVE a sixth sense? Prophetic dreams? Psychic visions of the future? Or are you just really good at guessing what’s going to happen in the near future?

In any case, here’s your annual chance to show your stuff. Every year around this time, we invite members of the Paranormal Forum to post their predictions for the coming year. There are several categories:

  • Best World Event
  • Worst World Event
  • Best National Event
  • Worst National Event
  • Greatest Scientific Discovery/Invention/etc.
  • Awards Predictions (Oscars/Grammies/Nobel Prize)
  • Surprise Prediction
  • Other Predictions

You can participate. Just go to the “Predictions for 2006” section of the Forum and REPLY with your predictions. You can respond to as many or as few of the categories as you want. If you prefer, you can also just e-mail your predictions to me at paranormal@about.com.

2005 Predictions

How well did our prognosticators do for 2005? You can read highlights of the 2005 predictions in this article. The only hits seem to include:

  • “The Pope will pass away.”
  • “There will be strides made in the Palestinians/Israeli peace situation.”
  • “Weather will be even worse than it is now, more intense, more hurricanes, more typhoons, more tornadoes worldwide.”
  • Academy Award: "Best Actor – Jamie Foxx."

Not exactly a great track record. Major misses include:

  • “Saddam Hussein is assassinated.”
  • “Elections in Iraq result in US pulling out.”
  • “A massive earthquake in the Southwest USA.”
  • “The Giants will win the Series against Cleveland in Game 7.”

Come on. We can do better than that. Gaze into your crystal ball, put on your meditation music or summon your Ascended Masters – whatever you need to do to look into the future. Post your predictions in the Forum or e-mail them to me.

Your deadline is December 31, 2005. Once all the predictions are in, I’ll post highlights in a January article.

I predict we’ll do better this year.
