I live in Alberta, Canada in a northern town called High Prairie. I've never really been one to take the death of a loved one very seriously. All four of my grandparents in my life are still very much alive and healthy. So when someone I cared about died, I didn't know exactly how I should feel. Or how I should react to what I believe is an omen of his death.
My mom and step-dad didn't get along well due to their excessive drinking problems, and at 16 turning 17 years old I found it very stressful. I figured because of the negative energy levels, the strange things I saw were quite predictable. I was two years into practicing witchcraft and learning all the important details.
The first omen was when I was practicing my Tarot readings with my step-father. Everything was going fairly OK and normal until I pulled his last card (the final outcome). I pulled the Death card. I told him it was OK, don't worry, this card usually means a great change in life and and new beginnings. Unsure of myself, I didn't think much of it, but later in the year (March, 2008) weird things happened.
I've heard of night terrors before, but I thought they were always just sleep paralysis and whatnot. One night I woke with a feeling of terrible dread. I immediately jumped out my bed and ran into the kitchen. My step-father (we nicknamed him "Rabbi"; his name is Robert, but we called him Rabbi; he wasn't even Jewish) was in the kitchen. I told him why I ran out, then went back to bed thinking it was probably nothing, just a nightmare.
A couple of nights later, I awoke again, but this time I saw something: a kind of gremlin-looking thing standing next to my bed, almost right next to my face. It was three feet tall, hissing at me when I awoke. Strangely enough, I reached out to grab it. Normally I would stay the hell away from it, but since I just woke up I reached out. I knocked over my lamp, and when I got up to run out once again, I noticed my hand was really numb and cold.
A couple months later, my step-father killed h himself. Could those things have been omens or a catalyst to his death? I don't know, but two weeks after that, my friend's step-dad killed himself, too. He hung himself the same way my step-dad did. But I also heard about another suicide somewhere else nearby. This town I grew up in never ever felt right. It's a town where weird things happen all the time. Ask anyone -- they'll have a story to tell you.
